DORIS Android is an illustrated guide to subaquatic species found in mainland France and overseas territories. It helps identify and observe marine and freshwater species for optimal diving or shoreline walks. The app can function both online and offline, allowing users to download photos of their choice and use them later without network connectivity.
The guide offers multiple search modes, including text, geographic area, and species. Each species is presented with a detailed fact sheet and photos from the French Federation of Underwater Studies and Sports Environment and Subaquatic Biology Commission's website, DORIS. The text gives direct access to definitions for the most scientific terms.
This mini-encyclopedia covers more than 4200 species andphotos related to marine life. It includes not only fish but also algae, mollusks, crustaceans, nudibranchs, marine mammals, corals, and even some birds. The community of underwater biology enthusiasts regularly updates the guide with new fact sheets, which are included in the app's updates by default.
